Upgrading Reference for Localized Versions of Office

Sharing Publisher Files Across Language Versions

Microsoft Publisher 2000 can open and read publications created in any localized version of Publisher. However, previous localized versions of Publisher cannot open Publisher 2000 publications.

When you open Publisher 97 or earlier publications in Publisher 2000, Publisher 2000 converts the text to Unicode. Because Publisher 2000 and Publisher 98 both support Unicode, Publisher 2000 does not need to convert Publisher 98 text.

Publisher 2000 does not support editing right-to-left (Arabic, Hebrew, Farsi, or Urdu) text. However, users running a right-to-left language version of Microsoft Windows can edit English or Western European text in Publisher 2000.
