Before You Upgrade to Office 2000

File Formats in Microsoft Office 2000

A file format determines the way that information is stored in a document, workbook, presentation, or database. If Microsoft Office applications have the same file format, you can exchange files without installing special converters. Except for Microsoft Access, all Office 2000, Office 98 for the Macintosh, and Office 97 applications share the same file format.
