Removal Wizard

Although version removal functionality is integrated into Microsoft Office 2000 Setup and the Office 2000 Custom Installation Wizard, a standalone version of the Removal Wizard is included as well. You can use this tool to exert a detailed level of control over which files to remove and which to retain. For example, if you are upgrading gradually to Office 2000, you can use the Removal Wizard to remove previously installed versions of the specific applications you choose to upgrade.

Applicable Office versions are Office 97, Office 95, and Office 4.x — in English and all other languages in which these versions were localized. A companion file list allows you to review and edit the detailed list of files that can be removed. The Removal Wizard does not remove user files from your hard disk.

Installing the Removal Wizard

The Removal Wizard is automatically installed on your computer when you install the Office Resource Kit. To locate the tool, click the Start button, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Office Tools, point to Microsoft Office 2000 Resource Kit Tools, and then click Removal Wizard.

Files for localized versions of the Removal Wizard are included on the Office Resource Kit CD-ROM in the PFiles\ORKTools\ToolBox\Tools\RmvWiz\ folder. This folder contains subfolders for each supported language (indicated by the 4-digit language codes).

Files for localized versions are also available on the Office Resource Kit Web site. For more information, connect to http://www.microsoft.com/office/ork/ and click Toolbox in the left navigation pane. Follow the instructions to download the files.
