Terminal Server Tools

If you plan to deploy Microsoft Office 2000 in a Windows Terminal Server environment, you can use the Motionless Office Assistant on the Terminal Server computer. The Motionless Office Assistant uses no animation, and this reduces the amount of incidental display information transmitted between the server and the client computers. By minimizing the network traffic between the server and the clients, the Motionless Office Assistant can help to improve the performance of the client computers.

Installing the Motionless Office Assistant

The file for the Motionless Office Assistant is automatically installed on your computer when you install the Office Resource Kit. To make the Motionless Office Assistant the only Office Assistant on the Terminal Server computer, set all the Office Assistants to Not Available when you install Office, and then install the Motionless Office Assistant on the Terminal Server computer.

To install the Motionless Office Assistant, run Office Resource Kit Setup on the Terminal Server computer. If you want to install only the Motionless Office Assistant from the Office Resource Kit, then set all the features to Not Available except for Terminal Server Tools.
