Upgrading Your MultiLanguage Pack Installation

It is a straightforward process to upgrade an existing Microsoft Office 2000 MultiLanguage Pack installation to use the Microsoft Office XP Multilingual User Interface Pack. To successfully migrate an installation, ensure that all previous MultiLanguage Pack files are deleted. Then install the MUI Pack files.

To upgrade an existing MultiLanguage Pack installation during your Office XP installation, first customize your Office transform to remove existing MultiLanguage Pack files. In the Custom Installation Wizard, on the Remove Previous Versions page, click Remove the following versions of Microsoft Office applications. Then select Microsoft Office 2000 MultiLanguage Pack.

If you are upgrading an existing MultiLanguage Pack installation after you have deployed Office XP, you must use another method (such as using the Office Removal Wizard) to ensure that all the existing MultiLanguage Pack files have been removed from users' computers before you install the Multilingual User Interface Pack.

After ensuring that previous versions of the MultiLanguage Pack have been removed, you can customize and install one or more MUI Packs.

You can use the Office Removal Wizard to remove applications or files after completing your initial Office installation. For more information about using the Removal Wizard, see Removing Applications or Features After Installation.
