Installing and Customizing Office

Deploying Microsoft Office XP from an administrative installation point gives you the most flexibility and control over the installation process. After you install the files on a network share, you can determine how much users interact with Setup and which Office features are available to them. You can specify default settings for most options, and even chain additional Windows Installer packages to the Office installation. Users can run Setup from the network or the Office CD, or you can distribute Office by using a hard-disk image or management services tool such as Microsoft Systems Management Server.
